LeTV Le 1s Launched in China for $172, Features a Fingerprint Sensor and 3GB of RAM

We have witnessed quite a lot of new Chinese phone manufacturers flooding the market with class leading hardware at a substantially lesser price point. Unlike before, Chinese manufacturers are also sparing some mention worthy efforts on marketing and brand building (read Xiaomi) thus enabling them to build a fan base. LeTV started out as an Online video company and soon enough, smartphones became one of its verticals. Le 1, Le 1 Pro and Le Max all launched in China earlier this year boasted of being the first device to come with USB Type-C.

The LeTV Le 1S heralds with features like IR Blaster, USB Type-C, dual SIM and 4G LTE connectivity. Just like any other smartphone being released these days, the Le 1s comes with a fingerprint sensor at the back treated with a mirror finish. The company also claims that the phone is fitted with fastest fingerprint sensor but fails to mention anything about the success rate for print registration.
Although the phone maintains a thin profile of 7.5 mm it is evidently bulky at 169g and given the shiny metal finish it looks like a piece of well weighted armory. From the outset, the phone resembles the Umi Iron, which we are currently reviewing. The Le 1s is equipped with a 5.5-inch FHD display and the viewing angles have been designed for an optimum viewing experience. The device draws its power from MediaTek Helio x10 Turbo octa-core processor glued to 3GB of RAM and on the storage front, it boasts of 32GB onboard memory, which is twice as that of its predecessor, the Le 1. Imaging is taken care by a 13-Megapixel primary camera with an auto focus that latches on to the target in just 0.09 seconds.

The Le 1s is backed up by a 3,000mAh battery pack and runs EUI based on Android 5.1. Additionally, the phone also comes with a free one-year subscription for the streaming services. Unlike other phones, the Le 1s boasts of a closely knit integration with the companies streaming services, which makes it one of the best choice if you already use LeTV streaming services.
Le 1s will start retailing at 1,099 RMB which translates to about $175 (or Rs 11,200), but as of now the company will stick to the Chinese turfs, although they are looking out for content syndication possibilities in the States and also announced plans to launch in India very soon.
