Huawei Launches Honor 5X Priced at Rs 12,999; Comes with Metal Body and Fingerprint Sensor

Huawei had launched the Honor 5X in China way back in October last year and now the phone has finally been launched in the Indian market as well. The Honor 5X will be an iterative upgrade for the Honor 4X which was a well speeced affordable Android smartphone.

The Honor 5X equips a 5.5-inch FHD display offering a pixel density of 401ppi, unlike the 4X which came with a HD display. Under the hood lies a Snapdragon 616 which has been mated to a 2GB of RAM. The internal storage has also been bumped from 8GB to 16GB and the external microSd card slot will now accommodate 128GB. The capacitive buttons at the bottom of the screen have been replaced by the on screen ones and the entire phone is enclosed in a metal body as opposed to the polycarbonate ones in the Honor 4X.
On the imaging front the device boasts of a 13-Megapixel primary sensor with dual flash, f/2.0 aperture, 28mm wide-angle lens, 5P lens and Blue Glass IR Filters. The front camera is a 5-Megapixel sensor which seems to be borrowed from the Honor 4x. The Honor 5X also comes with a finger print sensor at the back which according to the company is laced with ‘Fingerprint 2.0’ which will allow the phone to be unlocked in just 0.5 seconds. The smartphone comes with the usual set of connectivity features including 4G LTE support and Bluetooth 4.1.
For some reason, Huawei isn’t bringing the 3GB variant of Honor 5X that they have in China. That would have given the likes of Le 1S and Lenovo K4 Note some real tough fight on paper as well. Interestingly, the recently announced Redmi 3 from Xiaomi sports similar hardware except for the fingerprint scanner and priced much lower at 699 Yuan (approx Rs 7300). The Honor 5X will be available in Silver and Gold color options and will be sold on both Amazon and Flipkart. The pre-orders go live today.
