AT&T Digital Life Bringing Home Control to Your Smartphone or Tablet

We’re already on our way to give our homes a cyber heart with all the technology that takes its places in all the rooms. Now, AT&T, one of the top US carriers, is gearing up to deliver a broad ecosystem designed to manage all the home devices through wireless sensors and cameras, which will have a web based user interface.

AT&T Digital Life Gives Full Home Control to Your Smartphone or Tablet

Imagine a control center that would allow you to:

• manage home security
• control energy consumption
• check appliances diagnosis
• get concierge services
• track your pets

The platform was designed by Slalom Consulting and a very comprehensive hot demo was just presented these days at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. We got some pictures of their demo which was part of the Connected Life building at MWC. Another very interesting product worth mentioning, albeit it’s still in the visionary, theoretic aspect, is the Social Web of Things by Ericsson.

Digital Life Going Global

According to AT&T intriguing presentation, this would be only a part of its new platform AT&T Digital Life that provides a wide range of solutions for specific customer needs. The officials at the AT&T stand told us that they’re going to extend this service at a global range, so carriers all over the world that are interested in this service should hurry to partner up.
Digital Life supports a variety of devices including:

• lighting controls
• outlet power
• thermostat sensors (similar to Nest app for iPhone)
• indoor and outdoor cameras
• door locks
• smoke/CO2 and water detectors
• windows and doors contact
• garage tilt sensor

This army of devices ready to send information and control home security and comfort is managed by a web based user interface and the whole platform is highly customizable. Kevin Petersen, senior vice president, Digital Life, AT&T Consumer Strategy explains additional benefits of Digital Life.
