Reliance Jio Lyf Lineup Revealed; Will Consist of Lyf Water 1, Water 2 and Earth 1

Reliance’s most ambitious project, Jio, has created a lot of hoopla in India, which seems justified considering the quality and the quantity of mobile internet we are served with currently. As reported earlier, Reliance will be launching the Jio Lyf handsets that will come with freebies worth almost Rs 10,000. Now the company has revealed the specifications and the price for these devices on their website.

Reliance needs to keep the people on tenterhooks and make up for the fact that the service has been subjected to several delays. Reliance Digital has listed Lyf Earth 1, Lyf Water 1 and Lyf Water 2 smartphones along with the price tags.
The Lyf Water 1 has been priced at Rs 14,999 and the Lyf Water 2 at Rs 14,690. As you might have already guessed by the nomenclature the Water 1 and the Water 2 share most of the hardware. Both the devices come equipped with a 5-inch display and will draw power from the octa core Snapdragon 615 paired with 2GB of RAM. On the storage front, both the phones offer 16GB of onboard storage along with a microSD card slot. Both the devices will obviously support 4G LTE Indian bands in addition to VoLTE support and the usual features like the Bluetooth and the Micro-USB.
The most prominent difference between the Water1 and the Water 2 is the HD display in the latter and the FHD display in the former. The other difference is the 2,600mAh battery pack in the Water 1 and the 2,400mAh battery in the Water 2. Dimension wise, the Water 1 is slimmer measuring at 6.8mm whereas the Water 2 has a thicker profile of 7.7-mm. Both the phones boast of a 13-Megapixel and 5-Megapixel camera combo along with LED flash on both front and rear camera.
The Lyf Earth 1 incorporates a much larger 5.5-inch FHD display and is powered by the same octa core Snapdragon 615 paired with a much bigger 3GB of RAM. Storage on this phone has also been bumped up to 32GB bundled with the microSD card slot. The Earth 2 comes with a dual rear camera setup comprising of a 13-Megapixel sensor and a 2-Megapixel sensor; on the front the smartphone is fitted with the 5-Megapixel sensor.
On paper, all the three Lyf smartphones seem overpriced for the specs considering the competition. On the hitherto we do hope that Reliance has not riddled the phones with preinstalled software and keeps Android Lollipop at the bare minimal. All that being said, it is still speculated that the devices will hit the shelves in February, but again Reliance Jio has never been on schedule. We do expect more Lyf handsets in both Earth as well as Water series to be revealed before the commercial launch.
