Microsoft’s latest OS – Windows 7 boasts some unique features including a concept called Virtual WiFi. It was crafted in Microsoft’s research group as a way to “virtualize” one wireless card as several separate adapters.
A Philadelphia developer, used the new “Virtual Wi-Fi” feature in Windows 7 to create Connectify, a free application that it released as a beta last weekend. The program is currently provided as a beta version after registration on the Connectify homepage. Configuration of the service is very simple and it would not take more than 10 minutes to get the whole setup running. All you have to do is follow the steps below:
- Select the Internet connection you wish to share
- Choose a name for your new wireless network
- Choose a wireless passphrase
- Press the Internet Sharing button to turn on your wireless network
- Now, from your other devices, you can see your wireless network. Choose to join it, and enter the wireless passphrase to connect.
